Disability Discrimination Act... Did You Know?

1st October, 2004 marked a landmark for disabled people and those with special needs.

From that date, anyone providing a service to members of the public, including shops and businesses had to start addressing the physical features which make it difficult for disabled people to use their services.

Examples of providing a service include restaurants, pubs, clubs, shops, public swimming pools, hotels, garden centres, theme parks, leisure centres, libraries, hospitals, - all of which will have had to make 'reasonable adjustments' to their premises or the way they provide their services to ensure they are not unreasonably difficult for disabled people to use.
